The BATitat at the Eugene Saturday Market

The BATitat was discovered as the “Find of the Day” at the Eugene Saturday Market last week.  These homes are designed for our nocturnal friends… the Bats.  I have seen a lot of activity in the twilight skies around Eugene this week, from the Friendly Street Neighborhoods to the Southeast Foothills to the river banks of the Willamette River.  The babies or ‘pups’ are out and hungry for mosquitoes!

We need bats to maintain the insect populations.  Did you know that one bat will consume up to 1200 insects in only one hour?  Sadly, bats are threatened by chemical pesticides and habitat loss.  We need to act as stewards for the wildlife and help the urban ecosystem to flourish with life.  Buy a BATitat for your backyard today!!  See you at the Market.
